Tony Chase was a dual-sport All-American during his Frostburg State career for both the men’s soccer and track & field teams from 1982-86.
Chase garnered All-American honors as part of the 4x100-meter relay team at the NCAA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in both 1983 and 1984. In ’83, Chase and the relay team finished as the national runners-up, while in ’84 they captured seventh place. Chase was a six-time All-Mason-Dixon Conference honoree in both indoor and outdoor track & field.
As a senior on the men’s soccer team in 1985, Chase collected numerous honors, including an NCAA Division III First Team All-American award. He was also named the All-Maryland Small College Player of the Year, an All-Maryland Small College First Team honoree and an All-South Atlantic Region selection.
He finished his final season with 14 goals and four assists, while leading the Bobcats to the Eastern States Athletic Conference (ESAC) Championship.
As a sophomore, Chase was named to the Maryland Soccer Coaches Division II-III All-State team.
During his four-year soccer career, Chase helped guide Frostburg to 35 wins, an NCAA Tournament appearance in 1983 and an Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship in 1982.
