Kathy Harding was an NCAA All-American for the Frostburg State field hockey team in 1987 and she enjoyed four standout seasons as a defensive specialist for the Bobcats from 1984-1987.
In her first two years with the field hockey team in 1984 and 1985, she was a participant in the NCAA Division III playoffs. In 1984, she was a member of the Maryland State Championship team and in 1985, she won the Tanya McCaw award, handed out on both athletic and academic success and citizenship.
In 1986, she was a participant in the NCAA Division III playoffs and was named to the Eastern States Athletic Conference (ESAC) All-Star Second Team.
As a senior in 1987, Harding collected numerous honors, including an NCAA Division III First Team All-American award and was named the number one sweeper in Division III field hockey. She was named an NCAA Regional All-American and led the Bobcats to NCAA Division III playoffs. She won the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Scholar Athlete Award and was named co-captain of the nationally-ranked Bobcat team.
She helped guide the Bobcats to 54 wins and four NCAA Division III playoff appearances.
