Steven Terry is one of the most outstanding athletes ever to represent Frostburg State in track and field. He won two NCAA Division III national championships at 100 meters (1986 and 1988) and was the anchor-leg runner on the three Bobcat 4x100-meter relay teams that won NCAA III national titles (1986, 1987 and 1988). FSU's 1986 4x100-meter relay team established an NCAA III national record (40.39) that lasted until 2000.

Terry was a member of the three Bobcat track and field squads that won NCAA III national team championships (1986 indoor, 1986 outdoor and 1987 outdoor). He earned a total of 14 All-America recognitions during his career (three indoor and 11 outdoor).

Terry was the ECAC Division III champion at 55 meters in 1988 and a member of two teams that won ECAC Division III championships (1987 indoor and 1988 outdoor). He also won Mason-Dixon Conference championships at 100 meters in both 1987 and 1988 as well as 200 meters in 1987. Additionally, he was a member of three 4x100-meter relay teams that won Mason-Dixon titles (1985, 1987 and 1988), and he earned a total of 14 All-Mason-Dixon honors during his career (four indoor and 10 outdoor).

Furthermore, Terry won a significant number of spring races in invitational and relay meets and competed regularly and successfully in the Penn Relays. He was a member of two relay teams (4x100 and 4x200) that established FSU outdoor records and was co-holder of the FSU indoor record for 200 meters at the time of his induction.
