Basketball … 1936-1940. Four letters. A four-year starter at forward, Pat was Frostburg State’s leading scorer in both his junior and senior years with 189 and 331 points respectively. As a freshman he was the team’s second highest scorer.

His team-leading 331 points, 145 field goals and 41 free throws in 1939-40 placed him ahead of the great John Meyers for that season. Pat was the team’s leading scorer in at least 13 of 21 games that year (some game stats are unknown). In the final six games of the season he scored 21, 26, 21, 22, 18, and 24 points, especially high for the era.

He was a 2-year member of Gimp Carrington’s great teams in 1938-39 and 1939-40. The ‘39-40 team compiled the first truly outstanding record in Frostburg history, 17-4.
