Maggie Murphy was the most prolific scorer in Frostburg State women's lacrosse history during a record-setting career that spanned 1989-92. A four-time Brine/Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association South Regional All-America selection, Murphy set all-time FSU marks with 182 goals, 150 assists and 332 points.
Murphy established herself as a top offensive threat immediately, scoring six goals in her collegiate debut. She finished with 42 goals and 12 assists her freshman season en route to earning regional All-America honorable mention honors. The Bobcats went 9-5, earned a berth in the ECAC Tournament and finished ranked No. 6 in the nation.
Murphy continued her scoring barrage as a sophomore, netting 49 goals and adding 12 assists. She was selected to the Maryland College Team II and garnered regional All-America honorable mention accolades for the second straight year. FSU finished 9-5 overall and placed third at the Maryland College Tournament.
As a junior, Murphy scored 39 goals and set a school record with 56 assists to lead FSU to a 15-1 finish and both the Maryland College Tournament and the ECAC Mid-East Championship titles. She was named FSU's Most Valuable Player and was also selected to the South Regional All-America team.
Murphy led the Bobcats to a 14-3 mark and the program's first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament berth as a senior (the NCAA Tournament featured just eight teams at that time). FSU finished No. 4 in the final NCAA Division III poll, its highest ranking ever.
Murphy scored a career-high 52 goals and added a school-record 70 assists, a mark that still stood at the time of her induction. She took home a variety of honors, including Brine/IWLCA All-America first team, USWLA All-America honorable mention, ECAC Scholar Athlete, FSU Female Athlete of the Year and FSU NCAA Woman of the Year. She was also selected to play in the IWLCA North/South Senior All-Star Game.
