Duane DeVance was an eight-time All-Mason-Dixon Conference honoree during a four-year Bobcat track & field career from 1980-83.
 
DeVance is Frostburg's first All-American in the high jump for either the men or women's program's after he took fifth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 1982 (6ft. 10.25in.). DeVance also holds Frostburg's indoor (7ft. 0in.) and outdoor (7ft. 2in.) school records after setting both marks during his senior season in 1983.
 
That same season, DeVance became the Mason-Dixon Conference high jump champion (6ft. 10.25in.) during the indoor championships.
 
During his junior outdoor season, DeVance registered five top-five finishes including a win (6ft. 11.5in.) in a tri-meet with Towson and Salisbury. That height also set Frostburg and Bobcat Stadium records.
 
As a senior during the indoor season, DeVance won the high jump at West Virginia University and established a new WVU Fieldhouse record (7ft. 0in.). DeVance closed his senior year with two wins during the outdoor season, including a ninth-place finish in the high jump at NCAA DIII National Championships.
