Shearer helped the Bobcats to 51 wins during her career with three trips to the NCAA Tournament, including the program’s first win in the NCAAs with a 3-1 defeat of Farleigh Dickinson in 1984. Frostburg also made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament when Shearer was a freshman in 1981.

The Bobcats won 15 games in 1982 and 1984, a mark that ties for the most single season wins in school history.

Shearer helped the Bobcats to four-consecutive Maryland State Championship titles and is the program's second-ever All-American (1984). During her final year, she was also named an NCAA Regional All-American and was an All-Maryland Award winner.

Shearer finished her career with 15 goals, 15 assists and was named co-captain of the Bobcats as a senior.
