NCAA Division III All-American in the decathlon in 1979, placing third in the national championships with 6797 points. Mason-Dixon Conference indoor high jump champion in 1978 (6’4”); Pocono Decathlon champion in 1979 (6366 points). Won second place in the 1979 Mason-Dixon outdoor pole vault (13’6”), and third place in the 1978 outdoor high jump (6’4”).

Won first place in the javelin five times in his career; the pole vault, high jump and decathlon once each. Scored in 5 events in the Catawba dual meet, 1978. Top performances: decathlon (6797), pole vault (14’3”), javelin (195’9”) and high jump (6’5”).
