George O’Brien was a three-time All-American for the Frostburg football team and helped the Bobcats to an Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC) championship as a senior.
During his final year in 2002, O’Brien was named All-American by Hewlett-Packard and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), while helping Frostburg to six wins and the program’s second ACFC title.
That same season, he was also named to the All-ACFC First Team, selected to the ECAC Southwest All-Star Team and the Football Gazette All-South Region Third Team.
As a junior in 2001, O’Brien was named to the Hewlett-Packard DIII All-America Third Team and was selected as the ACFC’s Defensive Player of the Year after finishing 35th in the nation in sacks (9) and 39th in tackles for loss (18).
O’Brien was also named to the Football Gazette All-South Region Third Team and was selected as an ECAC Southwest All-Star.
At the time of his induction, O’Brien ranked seventh all-time in career tackles for loss (44) and is fifth in a single game in tackles for loss with 6.0 against Ursinus as a senior.
