Diane Watson was a stellar sprinter for Frostburg State from 1984 to 1987 and earned an astounding 11 All-America honors during her career.
She made an immediate impact for the Bobcats as a freshman, helping to set a school record in the 4x400-meter indoor relay, winning Mason-Dixon Conference titles in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays, capturing the ECAC title in the 4x400-meter relay and placing third in the 4x400 and fourth in the 4x100-meter relays at the NCAA Division III National Championships. She earned five All-Mason-Dixon, two All-ECAC and two All-America honors.
As a sophomore, Watson earned two more All-America honors by placing second in the 4x100 and fourth in the 4x400-meter relays at the NCAA National Championships. She took home five All-Mason-Dixon awards, two All-ECAC honors and won Mason-Dixon championships in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays. She also helped set school records in the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays.
Watson continued to shine as a junior, earning three All-America honors (200-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay). The 4x100-meter relay team won the national championship. Watson set three school records (45-meter dash, 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays), won two Mason-Dixon titles (4x100 and 4x400-meter relays) and took home five more All-Mason-Dixon honors.
As a senior, Watson capped her fine career with four All-America honors (indoor 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay; outdoor 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays), six All-Mason-Dixon accolades and three All-ECAC awards. She set school records in the 55-meter dash and helped set school marks in the 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays, and the 4x400-meter relay team finished second at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships.
Watson joins Maynard Hurd, a five-time NCAA individual national champion and five-time NCAA All-American, to form the second husband-wife duo in the Bobcat Hall of Fame along with former coaching greats Jim and Nancy Crawley.
