Evan O’Rourke established himself as one of the top scorers in the history of the Frostburg State men’s basketball program, helping the Bobcats to 63 wins during his four years.
O’Rourke, who holds several top-five career records, is second all-time in FSU history with 687 field goals made. He is also fourth in both points (1,662) and free-throw percentage (75.7%) and fifth in field-goal percentage (52.7).
O’Rourke, who started 97 of 110 games during his career, powered the Bobcats to a 19-11 overall record and the ECAC South Region Final as a senior in 1988-89. He led the team in scoring with 549 points, good for fifth all-time in a single-year. The ESAC All-Conference First Team selection, finished second on the team in rebounds (138) and assists (92) and led the team in scoring in 17 of 30 games.
As a junior, O’Rourke was second on the team in points (414) and netted a career-high 31 against Denison. He finished the season with 172 field goals, 133 rebounds, 75 assists and 33 steals and turned in a 49-of-58 effort (84.5%) from the free throw line, good for fourth all-time.
In his first two seasons with FSU, O’Rourke started 45 of 54 games and totaled 699 points and 263 rebounds.
