Football … Generally regarded as the greatest football player in FSC history at the time of his induction to the hall of fame, Charlie was the starting quarterback for his three years of eligibility. Although no records are in existence, his totals in passing and rushing yardage were great. Renowned for his “scrambling,” Charlie was named Back of the Week three times in his last season, the first year the award was given.
Track … A great hurdler, held FSC records in both high and low hurdles for several years. Ran the 220 lows in 26.3 and the 120 highs in 15.2.
Basketball … A fine player for two years. Injuries curtailed his play in a third year. Scored 425 points in his 2 and half season career.
MVP … Winner of the Most Outstanding Athlete Award 1965.
Letters … Earned eight letters - three each in football and track and two in basketball.
