Francisco Castro, a native of Gaithersburg, Md., was a four-year letterwinner at forward for head coach Ken Kutler from 1978-1981. He helped FSU to a 34-19-7 overall record.

As a freshman, Castro scored three goals and added five assists as FSU finished 9-3-2. He was then named to the All-State first team as a sophomore after posting 11 goals and a career-high six assists. The Bobcats finished 9-6-1 overall and won the Maryland Small College Championship.

As a junior, Castro scored a career-best 13 goals and added three assists and was the top vote-getter on the All-State team. He helped lead FSU to a 10-6-1 record and the ECAC Championship. That squad set a school record with 44 goals and tied the school record for victories in a season.

Castro capped his outstanding career with 11 goals and four assists and earning All-State and second-team All-South Region honors. He captained the squad to a 6-4-3 finish, which included a 1-1 tie with Division I nationally ranked West Virginia University, and the program’s first-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bobcats were edged by Franklin & Marshall 1-0 in the first round.
