Athletic Pioneer … The organizer, captain, and star of first athletic team in F.S.C. history. Organized a Football team within days of the September, 1902 opening of State Normal School #2, as the College was then known. That team won all five of its games, going not only undefeated but unscored upon. Lammert also was team captain in 1903 and 1904 and led the team to 2 more undefeated and unscored upon seasons. The 3-year record – 15 wins, no losses, one 0-0 tie (the very last game played). Although all the competition were non-college teams, Roland Lammert must be considered the Father of F.S.C. Athletics. One of the first two male graduates of the College, in June 1905.

Football … Three years the captain and fullback. Noted for his line-bucking, ball-carrying, tackling and drop kicking. Reports of 3 games his First year indicate 3 TD’s and 9 points after. One article called him “the irrepressible and invincible Lammert.”

Basketball … Three years the captain and center or forward, he apparently organized this team as well.

Baseball … Captain and catcher in both 1903 and ’04. No team in 1905: may have been the organizer as well.
