Kara Reed Nelson was a four-year standout player for the Bobcat women's basketball teams from 1994-1998. She helped FSU to 75 wins during her four years, including one NCAA and one ECAC Tournament appearance.
Reed Nelson left her mark on the Frostburg State career record books as well. She is sixth all-time in scoring (1,548 points), second in both three-pointers made (86) and steals (282), third in assists (363) and fifth in free throws made (292).
A First Team All-AMCC performer as a senior in 1997-98, Reed Nelson was second on the team in points (385), averaging 15.4 per game. She was also second in both assists (73) and steals (69).
Her junior year in 1996-97 was arguably her most successful. She was named an ECAC South All-Star First Team selection and helped the Bobcats to a 23-3 record and a berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
That same year, she led the team and finished 62nd in the country in scoring, averaging a career-best 17.2 points per game. She also led the Bobcats in total points (448), assists (106), field goals made (172), three-pointers made (28) and free throws made (76).
Reed Nelson scored 715 points over her first two years in an FSU uniform and helped the squad to 17 wins in each season.
