Soccer … Four letters in four seasons. Started for all four years at the inside left position. Scored 19 goals in his career, ranking him fifth on the Frostburg State career scoring list at the time of his induction. He led the team in scoring three seasons; 1956, ’57, ’58 and had individual scoring, seasons of 3, 2, 4 and 10. John played in a career total of 34 games for the Bobcats.

In his senior year (1958), he set an all-time FSC single-game record by scoring four goals in one half. This feat occurred on Homecoming and accounted for all the Frostburg scoring in a 4-1 victory over Lynchburg.

First-team All-South three times (’56, ’57, and ’58). Was named an alternate to the U.S. team in the 1959 Pan American games. Coach Babcock called John the best all-round player he ever coached at Frostburg.

John ran track two years competing in the mile and 2-mile, and earning 2 letters. He also was a member of the basketball and golf teams one year each.
