Caryn Shearer was a four-year letter winner and an All-American for the Frostburg field hockey team.

Shearer helped the Bobcats to 51 wins during her career with three trips to the NCAA Tournament, including the program’s first win in the NCAAs with a 3-1 defeat of Farleigh Dickinson in 1984. Frostburg also made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament when Shearer was a freshman in 1981.

The Bobcats won 15 games in 1982 and 1984, a mark that ties for the most single season wins in school history.

Shearer helped the Bobcats to four-consecutive Maryland State Championship titles and is the program's second-ever All-American (1984). During her final year, she was also named an NCAA Regional All-American and was an All-Maryland Award winner.

Shearer finished her career with 15 goals, 15 assists and was named co-captain of the Bobcats as a senior.
