Football … Four letters in four years. Bill is regarded generally as one of the greatest defensive players in Frostburg State’s history, and perhaps the best of a long line of outstanding Bobcat linebackers.

He broke into the starting lineup as a freshman and led the team to a 19-13-3 record in his four seasons. He was a fierce tackler whose speed allowed him to lay sideline to sideline, and to be an outstanding pass defender as well. A totally unselfish player, Bill led the team in tackles and assists in both 1969 and 1970.

As a sophomore, he was named Frostburg’s 1969 Best Defensive Player. In 1970, while a junior, Bill was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and was named to the All-Maryland Collegiate team.

A member of the 1970 F.S.C. team which finished with a 7-1 record and achieved national ranking.

Co-Captain in 1970 and 1971.

Coach Crawley has called Bill one of the best linebackers in all of small college football.
