CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The Frostburg State men's and women's track and field team went on the road to Charleston (W.Va) to participate in the Golden Eagle Invitational Saturday evening. The Bobcats pulled off three first-place finishes and 33 top-tens.
On the men's side, first-year Mark Vaughns placed first in pole vault with a height of 3.84m. Vaughns also placed sixth in the 400 hurdles (57.42).
Another first-place finish came from senior Michael Belcher in discus with a distance of 47.46m. Belcher also placed runner-up in hammer (50.86m) and 10th place in shot put with 12.29m.
In the 100-meter dash, first-year Nicholas Richardson landed fourth place with a time of 11.11. Richardson also landed fifth in the 200-meter with a finishing time of 22.22.
First-year Nathaniel Mesy landed 10th place in the 400-meter with a time of 51.50. In the 800-meter, first-year Daniel Foster placed third with a finishing time of 2:00.20.
The 1500-meter saw a fourth-place finish from Foster (4:07.32) and a ninth-place finish from junior Devin Horseman-Guy (4:11.23).
Sophomore Justin Dunklin landed a seventh-place finish in the 110 hurdles with a finishing time of 16.78. The 400 hurdles saw a 10th place finish from sophomore Brandon Hill with a time of 1:03.25. Hill also landed a sixth-place finish in long jump with a distance of 11.82m.
The 3000 steeplechase saw two top-ten finishes from the Bobcats: eighth place for first-year Justus LePrevost (10:37.85) and ninth place from sophomore Brennen Tomassoni (10:39.44).
The 4x400 relay team consisting of Vaughns, Mesy, Richardson and junior Clayton Washington landed second place with a finish time of 3:21.54.
Pole vault saw a runner-up position from sophomore Justin Dunklin with 3.50m. First-year Johnathan Jenkins landed fifth place in long jump with a distance of 6.19m.
Senior John Kerns saw three top-ten finishes during the invitational. He earned fourth place in hammer (49.26m), sixth place in shot put (13.46m), and seventh in discus with a distance of 37.50m.
On the women's side, the lone first place finish came from first-year Alyssa Mullery in the triple jump, with a distance of 10.85m. Mullery was also a part of a second place 4x100 relay team with fellow first-years Molly Wagner, Alexandra Dean, and Omokemi Balogun, with a finishing time of 51.18.
Wagner landed two other top-ten finishes: fourth place in the 100 meter (12.80) and seventh place in the 200-meter, finishing in 26.45 seconds.
Dean saw a fifth-place finish in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:14.88. Balogun landed two other impressive finishes; fourth place in triple jump with a distance of 10.35m and seventh place in long jump with a final distance of 4.35m.
First-year Jenna Green landed sixth in the 100 hurdles, with time of 17.18. In pole vault, first-year Chole Park landed eighth with a height of 2.43m.
First-year Alexa Bradburn landed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 37.66m and third in discus with a distance of 36.70m.
