Men's Track & Field Places Fifth Overall at MEC Outdoor Championships

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Track & Field team placed fifth overall at the MEC Outdoor Championships held from Sunday through Tuesday.
 
FSU began day one in the Hammer Throw, where redshirt juniors Aubrey Russ (49.27m) and Ire Maboudou (48.95m) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Additionally in the event, sophomore Willie Washington secured a personal record 43.54m. Keeping momentum with the throws, freshman Micah Carlson (51.82m) and graduate Owen Butler (51.58m) also went back-to-back in the Javelin scoring places, with the former setting a new collegiate best.
 
Continuing with the field events, junior Dalton Kasekamp took fourth in the Shot Put with a PR of 14.53m, while freshman Joseph Hipsley also hit a personal high of 13.34m. Later in the evening during the Long Jump, freshman Jason Pantaleon placed fourth at 6.74m.
 
The final day of events brought the best Bobcat finish of the championships, as freshman Chase Severtson came runner-up in the Pole Vault with a personal record 4.40m that also ties him for eighth all-time in program history. Carlson (43.34m), Washington (42.68m), and Butler (42.30m) all had scoring spots in the Discus, going 4th-6th, respectively. Closing out the field series, sophomore Dorian Grubb (13.50m) placed fifth in the Triple Jump, while freshman Chance McMillan (13.13m) earned seventh with a personal-best mark.
 
On the track, FSU hit a scoring mark at seventh in the 4x100m relay with the team of Pantaleon, freshman Felix Annan, senior Justin Dowell, and sophomore Cohen Arbogast running a 42.71. Later in the 4x400m relay, Annan and Arbogast joined junior Jack Hynes and sophomore Mason Worley to earn a spot on the podium in third with a season-best mark of 3:21.57. Hynes (48.55) and Arbogast (49.35) would both later impress in the 400m, taking third and sixth, respectively.
 
Worley (54.95) and freshman Akhili Reece (56.79) placed fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 400m hurdles, the latter hitting a personal record. Sophomore Desaun Jeffrey qualified for the 110m hurdles finals, taking seventh at 15.35, the same placement as junior Jaxon Jones in the 800m at 1:55.81.
 
Frostburg totaled 75 team points across the three days, finishing 14 points below Glenville State in fourth and 12.5 points above West Virginia Wesleyan in sixth.
