YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Frostburg State Men's Track & Field team concluded their two-day trip to the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invite across Friday and Saturday.
Graduate Marquise Burks reset his own school record in the heptathlon, placing fourth overall at 4,888 points. His top event came in the shot put, where he blew past his personal record and the meet record with a toss of 13.78m. He also set a PR in the long jump (6.48m) and the pole vault (4.26m), earning top-five marks in each event.
In the field events, sophomore Blake Stevens had a couple top-10 performances in both the triple jump, where he took fourth at 13.47m and the seeded high jump, earning sixth at 1.84m. In the former event, freshman Akhili Reece (13.26m) and sophomore Dorian Grubb (13.21m) each hit personal bests in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Redshirt junior Ire Maboudou led the throws by winning the regular weight throw at 15.72m, setting a PR that puts him fifth in program history, while junior Tyler McGraw wasn't too far behind in fourth, with his 15.29m putting him seventh all-time.
Junior Gage Osborne continued his season-long ascension up the record board in the mile, placing fifth at 4:14.93 that puts him third in school history. Also among the distance events, junior Jaxon Jones set a personal-best 1:56.71 in the 800m that puts him ninth all-time.
Frostburg will next head back to VMI for the Winter Relays on Friday, February 6 for another two-day meet. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
