Bobcats Open Season with Three Wins

GLENVILLE, W.Va – The Frostburg State men's and women's track and field team opened their 2021 season over the weekend at Glenville State with three wins and 26 top five-finishes.
 
 
Seniors Michael Belcher and John Kerns and first year Alyssa Mullery all posted wins during the opening meet.
 
 
Belcher landed his win during the discus throw (48.36m). He also captured a third-place finish in the hammer throw with 51.13m.
 
 
Kerns captured his first place in the hammer throw (53.16m). Kerns also landed third place finish for the Bobcats in shot put (13.30) and a fourth-place finish in the discus throw (42.34).
 
 
Along with the two wins, the men's team posted five runner-up finishes and three third-place finishes.
 
 
The team landed second in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:26.84.
 
 
Sophomore Justin Dunklin took two of the runner-up finishes; one in the decathlon long jump (6.20m) and the other in the decathlon high jump (1.79m)
 
 
First year Rondell Carlton captured a second-place finish in the triple jump (12.98m), while first year Mark Vaughns posted a second-place finish in pole vault (3.35m).
 
 
On the women's side, Mullery posted her win in the 100 hurdles (15.69).
 
 
The women captured eight top-five finishes, with first year's Isabel Pereira and Morgan Mathews capturing third-place finishes in the 5000m (22:08.92) and heptathlon javelin throw (22.14m), respectively.
