LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Frostburg State men's and women's track & field teams captured several season-bests, a personal record and one of the top times in program history on the first day of the Liberty Kickoff meet, Friday.
The 4x800-meter relay team of seniors Jacob Rickards and Lorenzo Wilson, along with first-years Daniel Foster and Jaydon Morley posted one of the top times in program history with an 8:05.38 and fifth place. The foursome also posted the fastest Division II time in the event.
Individually, junior Braxton Clark finished 12
th in the 5,000-meter run in a personal-record 15:59.10.
Junior Amy Trembly took home 24
th place in the pole vault at a season-best 2.60 meters (8ft. 6.25in.).
First-year Alexa Bradburn captured 30
th in the women's weight throw in a season-best 11.34 meters (37ft. 2.5in.)
Frostburg also had a pair of athletes compete in the heptathlon and the pentathlon.
After four events on Friday, sophomore Justin Dunklin sits in ninth place of 13 competitors with 2,305 points in the heptathlon. He captured seventh in the long jump at 6.33 meters and he was tied for fourth place in the high jump at 1.82 meters. He also ran a 7.66 in the 60-meter dash and tossed the shot put 7.55 meters.
Day two will feature the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run.
Meanwhile in the pentathlon, first-year Morgan Mathews captured 14
th place with 2,153 points. She took 10
th place in the shot put with a distance of 8.70 meters and posted a 2:54.90 in the 800-meter run. She also posted a 4.26-meter effort in the long jump and threw the shot put 8.70 meters.
