NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Senior thrower Trey Davis had quite the successful afternoon as the Frostburg State University men's track & field team completed day one of the 2014 Capital Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, Saturday.
Davis defended his CAC Title in the hammer throw from a year ago and he did it in impressive fashion. He twice set the school record and qualified for the ECAC Outdoor Championships in the process. His second toss of 48.56 meters (159ft. 3in.) set the FSU mark by just under five feet and his fifth throw set the school record again, this time at 50.16 meters (164ft. 7in.).
Freshman Sterlyn Elder posted sixth place in the 100-meter dash preliminaries in 11.18, while junior Devin Francillon was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles preliminaries in 15.96.
In the men's javelin, junior Alex Patterson captured 11
th at 43.25 meters, while junior Chris Rickell was 12
th with a personal record of 41.53 meters.
Day two of the CAC Championships start tomorrow at 10:30 am.
