FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team took down District of Columbia on Wednesday afternoon by a 6-1 final.

Facing off against the shorthanded Firebirds, who only had five available players, FSU began with victories in doubles play. At the No. 1 spot, seniors Alyssa Kush and Julia Ramos won 6-2, while juniors Patricia Castejon and Ximena Ku also cruised to a 6-1 decision, with a forfeit completing the doubles sweep.

With only five singles matches on the board, the Bobcats sweeps at each of the first four spots en route to their meet win. Ramos (6-3, 7-5) took the victory at No. 1, followed by Ku (7-5, 6-3) Â and Castejon (7-5, 6-3) matching each others' scores at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, while Kush (6-3, 6-0) completed FSU's dominance. UDC took solace in a victory at No. 5, as a forfeit in the final spot brought the 6-1 final.

With the win, Frostburg improves to 9-7 on the year, while UDC drops to 6-7. FSU will return home on Friday, April 10 to face West Virginia Wesleyan at 3 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
