FAIRMONT, W. Va. - The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team concluded their regular season with a 5-2 loss against Fairmont State on the road Sunday afternoon.
Starting out strong, the Fighting Falcons swept the doubles matches to earn the meet point, with the closest match coming at 6-3 in the No. 1 spot.
Senior Julia Ramos began singles play with an impressive 7-6, 6-3 victory at the top spot, however Fairmont won each of the next four spots without dropping a set to secure the meet win. Not going without a fight, junior Claudia Coombes battled her way to a 1-6, 7-5, 10-4 decision at No. 6 for the 5-2 final.
With the loss, Frostburg drops to 12-9 on the year, while Fairmont improves to 14-6. Both teams now advance to the MEC Championship, where the Bobcats will face top seeded Charleston on Saturday, May 2 at 2:30 from Charleston, WV. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
