BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis Team fell in their spring season opener 5-2 to Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon.
FSU started by taking a win in doubles, with senior Noah Fisher and freshman Tiago Iser winning 6-3 at the No. 3 spot. The Huskies, however, would take wins at No.1 and No.2 doubles to earn the meet point.
In singles play, Fisher would remain undefeated on the day, winning 7-6, 6-2 at No. 6, while senior Cole Alcala would also win in straight sets 7-5, 7-5 at No. 1. BU responded with straight set wins at Nos. 2 and No. 5, leaving the meet up to a pair of three-setters at Nos. 3 and 4. Iser played a close match, just losing 7-6, 4-6, 3-6 at the third spot, while freshman Gabriel Carrillo would also fall just shy 2-6, 6-4, 2-6 at four, leaving the meet result at 5-2.
With the loss, Frostburg falls to 3-1, while Bloomsburg improves to 2-1. FSU will next travel to Morgan State on Saturday, March 7, for an 11:30 AM start in Baltimore, MD. For more information, visit frostburgsports.com
