Jamison, Mastria Secure Top-Two Program Marks at VMI Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team placed ninth overall at the VMI Invitational on Friday with a number of top-10 finishes.
 
Freshman Shekinah Jamison had FSU's top finish of the day, placing third overall in the triple jump, setting a new personal record of 11.63m that also puts her second all-time in program history. Also in the field events, junior Bella Mastria earned fifth in the long jump at 5.47m while sophomore Regan Sivic took fifth in the pole vault at 2.75m, setting an indoor PR and putting herself seventh in program history, as freshman Nevaeah Carter-Booth completed her first successful leap in the event, placing eighth at 2.15m.
 
Mastria would go on to qualify for the 60m hurdles finals, where she took eighth overall with a new personal record of 8.99, becoming the second athlete in program history to run a sub-nine seconds for second in school history. Also in the sprints, senior Valerie Boards placed fifth in the 200m (25.03), where junior Lucy Crowe set a PR of 26.99, as did freshman Madison Medley (8.20) in the 60m.
 
In the distance events, junior Hannah Schauman impressed in the 3,000 meters, running a personal best 11:12.15 to earn her fourth overall. Classmate Emily Wishart had the same finish in the mile at 5:24.33, while sophomore Keira Taylor hit a PR of 5:32.22 to take tenth. Freshman Leah Magda entered herself into the record books in the 800m with a personal record 2:24.69 that puts her ninth in program history, while Wishart ran a 2:26.51 that had her in tenth both in the event and in the record book.
 
Junior Raegan Philips led the throws with a PR 12.25m in the weight throw to put her tenth all-time in school history. FSU closed out the meet with the team of Crowe, Mastria, Magda, and Boards placing sixth in the 400m relay at 4:04.33.
 
Frostburg will return to action on Friday, January 30, where the team will be split between the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invite and the Penn State National Open. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
