YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team concluded their two-day trip to the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invite across Friday and Saturday.
Junior Bella Mastria had herself a career performance on day one, setting a personal record 3,180 points in the pentathlon that improves her third placing in school history. During her events, she surged past her previous program record in the long jump, leaping 5.95m that also puts her 14
th nationally in Division II. On the second day, she qualified for the 60m hurdle finals and placed fifth at 9.18.
Another Bobcat record-setting performance came in the distance medley relay, where the team of freshmen Abby Mastria and Leah Magda, sophomore Keira Taylor, and junior Emily Wishart blew past the previous school mark in 12:51.10, topping the old record by over 11 seconds. Magda would go on to set another pair of top-five program marks, taking sixth overall in the mile at 5:21.85 and running a 2:23.45 in the 800m, both putting her fifth in school history.
In the field events, freshman Shekinah Johnson continued her impressive opening to her FSU career, placing fifth in the triple jump at 11.25m while hitting a PR 5.12m in the long jump that puts her tied for 10
th in program history.
Frostburg will next head back to VMI for the Winter Relays on Friday, February 6 for another two-day meet. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
