Men's Track & Field Sits Top-3 After First Day of MEC Indoor Championships

HUNTINGTON. W.Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Indoor Track & Field team sits in third place after the first day of the MEC Indoor Championships held on Sunday.
 
Junior Mason Reed and freshman Blake Stevens took over in the heptathlon events during day one, placing well in the 60m hurdles, long jump, shot put, and high jump.  Reed took fourth in the 60mh with a 7.54 time, while Steven saw eighth with a 7.67 time.  Reed also saw a fourth place finish in the long jump with a length of 5.95m for a season best, while Stevens came in right behind him in sixth with a 5.72m finish.  Stevens went on to claim first and personal bests in the shot put (10.07m) and high jump (1.91m), while Reed (9.16m) received fifth in the shot.
 
Senior Tom McCoy won the pole vault with a height of 4.80m, with Frostburg dominating in the event as freshman Morgan Corwine (3.80m) tied for third, and freshman Adeeb Pender and junior Ryan Schlauch finished out in fifth and sixth, both with a 3.50 jump, while Pender set a new personal best.  Graduate Rondell Carlon went on to see 10th in the long jump with a leap of 6.37m.
