FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team dropped their MEC opener on Monday afternoon to West Virginia Wesleyan by a final score of 6-1 at home.
Sophomores Cole Alcala and German Diaz picked up the lone doubles win for Frostburg on the day, taking the No. 1 Â match with a 6-3 score. Freshman Peter Barun and senior Del Carden came up close in their doubles contest, falling by a score of 6-4 in the second pairing as WVWC won the doubles point.
Diaz was the lone Bobcat to pick up a win in singles play, winning at No. 2 by a 6-1, 6-1 contest. Alcala came close to taking his second set in his No. 1 singles match, falling in a 1-6, 5-7 final, as Barun fell just shy in his No. 3 singles contest with a 4-6, 4-6 score. Sophomore Noah Fisher lost narrowly as well, putting up a 6-7, 5-7 fight in No. 6 singles.
With the loss, FSU falls to 3-8 on the season, while Wesleyan improves to 9-5. The Bobcats will travel to Salem (WV) next on Friday, April 12 for a 3 PM contest. For more information, please visit frostburgsports.com.
