FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team took a narrow victory over Bloomsburg at home by a score of 4-3 on Friday afternoon.
The Bobcats started strong by sweeping the doubles competition, with the team of freshman Alyssa Kush and sophomore Lorena Pintar getting the first victory with a 6-2 score. Sophomores Julia Ramos and Mariaspa Kotsiou earned the second match with a 6-1 win, then senior Immanuella Odiong and sophomore Femke Hofkamp brought home the sweep for FSU in No. 3 doubles, knotting a 6-4 win.
Frostburg looked to continue their dominance in singles play, as Pintar picked up the win in No. 1 singles, fighting back from a set down for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory. Ramos (7-5, 6-0) and Kotsiou (6-3, 6-0) tallied the other two wins with straight set victories, as Kush fell just shy in her match with a tight score of 6-1, 3-6, 5-7.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 10-7 on the year, while Bloomsburg falls to 2-9. The Bobcats will return to action quickly, as they travel to face Davis & Elkins on Saturday, April 8 with a match time of 12 PM. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
