MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's track & field team finished in second place overall at the Messiah Invitational, picking up five first place finishes on the day. 
 
Leading the way for FSU, freshman Valerie Boards took first in the 100 (12.24) and 200 meters (25.75). Her time in the former was good enough for fourth all-time in program history and set the meet and facility record. Sophomore Gabrielle Heard took fifth in the 200 at 26.17. 
 
The two other individual first place finishes came from freshman Jasmine Scott in the 400 meters with a 58.37 and junior Omokemi Balogun in the triple jump at 12.17 meters. The jump landed her at the top of the FSU record book to go along with an NCAA provisional standard, meet record and facility record. 
 
Frostburg's 4x400 meter relay team made up of sophomore Aissatou Diallo, Heard, junior Baby Jimerson and Scott also took the top finish at 4:04.62. The 4x100 meter relay teams saw two groups finish in the top five with 49.05 and 50.34 for third and fourth, respectively. 
 
Senior Makayla Westry had the second longest throw of the day in the hammer throw at 45.41 meters, while freshman Addy Cottrill took third in the discus with a throw of 38.55 meters. Freshman Eva Morrison ended third in the pole vault at 3.27m and fellow freshman Tristen Clark came in fourth in the long jump at 5.13m. 
 
The Bobcats will run in the Loyola/Hopkins Invite next Friday and Saturday, April 21-22. For more information visit frostburgsports.com
