INSTITUTE, W.Va. - The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team was defeated by West Virginia State on the road by a score of 5-2 on Saturday morning.
In the doubles competition, the pairing of freshmen German Diaz and Cole Alcala picked up the first win of the day defeating the Yellow Jackets 6-3. Sophomore Matt Bolden and junior Del Carden came close in their match falling by a score of 6-4.
Alcala performed an impressive sweep in the singles competition by coming out on top with a score of 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Jason Haley would pick up another win for the Bobcats earning the singles point with a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Freshmen German Diaz and Noah Fisher showed great efforts each falling by scores of 7-5, 6-3.
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-5 on the season while WVSU rises to 1-3. Frostburg will be back in action at home on Saturday, March 11 as they will face West Liberty for a match time of 1 PM. For more information and updates, please visit www.frostburgsports.com.
