ERIE, Pa. - The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team was defeated on the road by Mercyhurst 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Cole Alcala and junior Del Carden picked up the first victory for the Bobcats, winning their doubles match 6-3 in a fairly comfortable win. Senior Mason Hordubay and freshman Noah Fisher were made to work harder in a marathon match, but pulled out a 7-6 (7-5 tiebreak) victory to earn FSU the doubles point.
Mercyhurst took control in singles play, as Alcala was the only Bobcat victorious, winning his match 6-0, 4-6, 6-4. Freshman German Diaz came agonizingly close to a win, taking the first set 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match, but dropped the next two sets 6-4, 7-5.
