Men's Wrestling Maintains Winning Streak in Home Victory Over Falcons

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's wrestling team picked up its second Mountain East Conference win with a home 29-22 decision over Notre Dame (Ohio).

FSU started off strong with one of its four pins on the day. Freshman Alex Bellarin won the 125 lb match with a fall 2:20 into the first period, handing FSU a 6-0 lead. With early momentum on the Bobcats' side, junior Thierno Diallo added to the lead with a technical fall, pushing the team score to 11-0. Sophomore Dylan Montgomery secured a third straight win for FSU with a pin in the 141-lb. match for a commanding 17-0 advantage.

NDC finally got on the board with a tech fall at 149 lbs, but freshman Mason Buckler answered at 157 lbs, securing another pin for the Bobcats in the first period. After a narrow decision went to the Falcons at 165 lbs, freshman Charlie Turney added to the FSU cushion with another pin fall, effectively sealing the meet win at 29-8 with three matches remaining. Each of those would end up going to Notre Dame, but the Bobcat lead stood at 29-22 to end things.

With the win, Frostburg is now 4-0 to open the season, while NDC falls to 0-1. FSU will head to the Shenandoah Invite on Sunday, November 19 in Winchester, Va. For more information visit frostburgsports.com.
