Westry Wins Hammer Throw, Women's Track and Field Ties for Fourth

CHARLESTON, W. VA. - The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team competed in the Golden Eagle Invitational on Saturday, tying for fourth place overall at the meet.
Junior Makayla Westry secured 10 points for the Bobcats, winning the hammer event with a throw of 46.06 meters, which now stands as the second-best throw in program history. Westry sits at the top of the MEC currently in the event and moved into the top-10 in the Atlantic region with the throw.
 
In the 100-meters, sophomore Brianna Stevenson (12.76) and redshirt-freshman Emmanuella Godswill (12.81) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, while freshman Gabrielle Heard finished with a time of 13.14, as all had PR's for FSU.
 
The 200-meters saw personal best times for sophomore Baby Jimerson, Heard and freshman Aissatou Diallo at times of 26.75, 26.91 and 27.32, respectively. Jimmerson also hit a collegiate-best time in the 400-meters at 1:00.84, that was good enough to earn fourth place. Heard, Godswill, Jimerson and Stevenson also finished fourth overall in the 4x100 relay at a time of 50.57 seconds.
 
In the distance events, freshman Elizabeth Stanley took home third place in the 1500 at a personal best time of 5:03.65. Sophomore Hannah Muir and freshman Chelsea Montau also contributed points to the FSU overall with Muir finishing sixth in 5000 meters and Montau earning fourth in the 10,000 meters.
