Acrobatics and Tumbling Suffers Close Loss to WVWC on Senior Day

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling program hosted West Virginia Wesleyan in their final home meet for 2022 at Bobcat Arena, falling just short 255.89-257.41. 

In the compulsory event, Frostburg fell behind Wesleyan early 35.9-33.5, having to recover from a fall in the first heat. WVWC furthered their lead in the acro event, putting up a score of 27.75 to Frostburg's 24.4.

The pyramid event has been one of the stronger events on the year for FSU, as they came out just ahead 28.4-28.2, thanks to a meet-high score of 9.8 in the open heat. The teams went into halftime with Wesleyan out in front 91.85-86.3.

With ground to make up in the second half, FSU fell just shy in the toss event, with a 27.1 to WVWC's 26.95. In the tumbling event, however, Frostburg came out in front, 52.25 to 49.25, as sophomore Abbie Baker's 9.7 aerial pass was the highest scored heat of the event.

Going into the team event, WVWC held a narrow three-point lead, taking things down to the wire. Wesleyan was first up, putting in a solid score of 89.21, while Frostburg was able to score just higher at 90.39.The slight victory in the event was just not enough, as the final total finished 257.41-255.89, with WVWC coming out on top.

At the conclusion of the team event, Frostburg honored seniors Hannah Krumpach and Stephanie Vigezzi, who will wrap up their careers as members of the team at the end of the season.

With the loss, FSU falls to 4-4, while Wesleyan improves to 3-2 on the year. Frostburg returns to the mat for their regular season finale on the road against West Liberty, with the meet scheduled to begin Saturday, April 2 at 3 p.m. For information and updates stay tuned at frostburgsports.com.
