FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling team fell in their home opener 242.285-237.825 to No. 12 Glenville State on Thursday evening.

Starting out in the Compulsory Event, both sides split the four heats, with GSU winning the Acro and Tumbling while FSU took the Pyramid and Toss heats, putting up the highest scores in each at 9.50 and 9.55, respectively. The Pioneers, however, were able to hold on to a narrow 34.40-34.00 advantage.

Glenville then took both the 5- and 7-Element heats in the Acro Event with high scores of 9.60 and 9.55. Frostburg was able to win the 6-Element 9.00-8.65 while also scoring an impressive 9.40 in the 5-Element, though GSU still led 62.20-61.20. The visitors extended their lead by taking all three heats in the Pyramid Event, including a 9.95 in the Inversion and a 9.90 in the Open. FSU didn't trail by much in either heat at 9.65 and 9.70, as the halftime lead for the Pioneers stood at 91.40-89.50.

During the Toss Event, GSU came out with an early 9.60 in the 450 Salto that led to them taking the event, as the sides tied in both the Synchronized and Open heats at 8.50 and 8.75. The early portion of the Tumbling Event was back-and-forth, as the Pioneers won the duo pass 8.40-7.55 while the Bobcats took the trio 7.15-6.25 before a 7.10 tie in the quad pass. Glenville pushed forward in the solo passes, scoring at least a 9.20 in each heat in winning the event 49.775-45.875.

Trailing by nearly seven points going into the Team Event, FSU was able to come away with a 76.50-74.26 victory, but it wasn't enough to flip the meet result as GSU won 242.285-237.815.

With the loss, Frostburg drops to 3-1 on the year, while Glenville improves to 5-0. FSU will return home on Saturday, March 14 to face Presbyterian at 1 p.m. where it will be Senior Day. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
