ELKINS, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Swim team began their season with a narrow 103-102 victory over Davis & Elkins on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats began the meet well with a win in the 200-yard medley relay with a team of freshman Julian Najarro Sedar and juniors PJ Emrich, Jackson Miller, and Noah Loper in a time of 1:39.37.
Â
Sophomore Nate Canapp got the first solo victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle, winning in commanding fashion with a time of 10:08.37, a full 36 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor. Â
With the meet coming to a close, the Bobcats needed a strong performance in the 400-yard free relay to pull out a win. The team of Miller, Wetherhold, Canapp, and freshman Alex Whitton did just that, surging to first place with a time of 3:21.21, which was six seconds better than the Senators' A team. The FSU B team of freshman Josh Horner, junior Andy Creelman, and sophomores Jaden Tipton and Sean O'Connor also defeated D&E's A team in 3:26.81 to secure the meet victory.
Â
With the win, Frostburg improves to 1-0 on the young season, while Davis & Elkins falls to 0-1. The men are back in the pool next Saturday, October 29 as they hit the road to face Fairmont State at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted at frostburgsports.com.
