Hays, Bond, King Help Men's Swimming to Sweep of Salem, Southern Virginia

SALEM, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Swimming team picked up a pair of wins at the Salem tri-meet on Saturday, defeating the hosts 147-88 and Southern Virginia 141-83.
 
FSU began the meet with the team of freshman Sean Filipovits, juniors Dylan King and Joshua Stokes, and senior Andrew Wetherhold placing second in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:38.85. Freshman Bliss Hays would pick up the first Bobcat win on the day, taking the 1,000 free in 10:22.39, while junior Jack Bond was just behind at 10:45.24.
 
Hays earned another win in the 200 fly at 2:06.74, while Bond would later win the 500 free (5:13.94), just ahead of sophomore Bradin Norris (5:19.97). Norris picked up another second-place finish in the 200 breast (2:27.30), where Wetherhold was third (2:30.69), as he then took second in the 50 free at 22.73.
 
King and junior Zeke Cummings would get the final two Bobcat victories, the former winning the 200 IM in 2:03.48 and the latter taking the 200 back at 2:19.06. Junior Tory Reynolds concluded the runner-up spots with second in the 100 fly at 55.18.
 
With the sweep, Frostburg improves to 4-4 on the year and will next travel to Cal (Pa.) to take part in the Vulcan Invite and Winter Frenzy beginning Friday, January 16. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
