Men's Swimming Takes Fifth Overall at GMAC/MEC Championships

CANTON, Ohio - The Frostburg State men's swimming team finished fifth overall at the 2026 Great Midwest and Mountain East Conference Championships on 782.5 points. 
 
In the first final FSU raced in was the 200-medley relay where they would finish fifth and pick up MEC honorable mention honors with freshman Sean Filipovits, senior Andrew Wetherhold, and juniors Dylan King and Tory Reynolds taking a time of 1:33.90. Sophomore Bradin Norris was sixth overall and second team All-MEC in the 1000 freestyle at 10:01.36. The last race of day one finals was the 200-freestyle relay, where senior Josh Horner, Wetherhold, and juniors Joshua Stokes and Tory Reynolds finished at 1:25.92 in fourth place and second team All-MEC. 
 
King would pick up a first team All-MEC finish to start day two for the Bobcats, with his 50.48 securing seventh overall in the 100 fly, while Filipovits took Honorable Mention honors at 51.06. Frostburg finished the day on a strong note, taking fifth in the 400-medley relay, as Filipovits, Wetherhold, King and Stokes came in at 3:27.20 for Honorable Mention All-MEC.
 
On day three, Filipovits and Stokes each qualified for the 100 back A Final, with the former taking Second Team at 51.85 and the latter Honorable Mention with 52.74, placing sixth and eighth overall, respectively. King then secured another First Team All-MEC for his performance in the 200 butterfly, placing fourth overall at 1:53.19. while sophomore Bradin Norris finished eight for Honorable Mention honors. 
 
In the final day of competition, freshman Bliss Hays would swim the 1650 free in 17:09.05 for sixth place overall and Honorable Mention All-MEC. Norris (1:54.95) and Filipovits (1:56.18) would then go four and five in the 200 back, respectively to take Second Team and Honorable Mention. FSU closed out the meet in the 400-freestyle relay, where King, Horner, Reynolds and Stokes took fifth overall and Honorable Mention All-MEC at 3:10.23.  
 
Frostburg finished fifth overall and third among MEC schools behind Davis & Elkins and Wheeling. The full list of All-MEC honorees can be found below.
