SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team earned their second straight victory with a 6-1 match win on the road against Shepherd on Wednesday afternoon.
The day started fantastically for FSU, as freshmen Alyssa Kush and Julia Ramos dominated their No. 1 doubles match, winning 6-0, followed quickly by another win by the pairing of freshman Mariaspas Kotsiou and sophomore Lorena Pintar with a score of 6-1. Seniors Rabi Ladan and Betsy Hixson were awarded a default win to sweep the doubles point.
In singles play, the Bobcats only suffered one setback, as they earned five of the six available points, with the winning players not dropping a single set. Hixson (6-0, 6-0), Kotsiou (6-1, 6-0), and Ramos (6-2, 6-0) had particularly impressive performances, with Pintar (6-1, 6-3) and Ladan (6-2, 6-1) rounding out the day in fine fashion as well.
The win puts Frostburg at 2-1 on the Fall season, while Shepherd falls to 0-1. FSU is back on the courts Saturday, October 22 for their final match of the Fall season at home against Seton Hill (Pa.), with match play set to begin at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
