FROSTBURG, Md.- The Frostburg State men's swimming team earned their first win of the season over West Virginia Wesleyan by a score of 139-83. On the women's side, Frostburg fell to one of the top teams in the conference 144-74.
The Frostburg women earned their first victory in the 100-meter breaststroke, with first-year Cali Kobasiar picking up the win. First-year Liz Perry would then get a win in the 50-meter freestyle, before the team rounded out on a strong note with a win in the 200-meter freestyle relay, led by Perry, junior Aubree Morris, and first-years Francesca Crevoiserat and Summer Mastandrea.
The Frostburg men's team got off to a fantastic start, with a team of senior Anthony Giuseppetti, junior Jacob Tantalla, and first-years Andrew Creelman and Noah Loper breaking the school record in the 400-meter medley relay with a time of 4:05.27.
The men continued their strong start with first-year Justin Geiszler winning the 800-meter freestyle and Giuseppetti picking up a win in the 200-meter freestyle right after. Frostburg would go on to finish first and second in the 100-meter breaststroke, with Loper earning the win and Tantalla right behind him.
After the first mid-meet break, Frostburg picked up another couple of impressive victories, with Giuseppetti winning the 100-meter freestyle and first-year Jackson Miller winning the 200-meter backstroke. Loper then dominated the 200-meter breaststroke, with first-year Matthew Rotman earning a solid second place finish. Geiszler picked up his second win of the afternoon by winning the 400-meter freestyle, as Creelman earned his first individual win in the 100-meter butterfly.
The men closed out just as they started, with Loper winning the 200-meter IM and the men sweeping the relays with Creelman, Giuseppetti, Miller, and sophomore Quicy Page coming out victorious in the 200-meter freestyle relay.
