Bobcat Men Fall To Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. – Frostburg State's men's tennis team traveled to Mount Aloysius College on Sunday, falling to the Mounties 6-3 in non-conference action.
 
The Bobcats started the afternoon by going 1-2 in doubles action. Junior Tim Goldring and sophomore Ryan Tomasic winning No. 3 doubles 8-2 over the Mounties' Adam Tussey and Nick Anagnostiadis.
 
First-year Mason Hordubay and junior Geoffrey Goldring fell in No. 1 doubles 8-1 and seniors Christian Deynes and Toheeb Aroworowon lost a tight 8-9 decision in No. 2 doubles.
 
Frostburg dropped the first four singles matches of the day. Geoffrey Goldring fell 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, Hordubay narrowly lost 6-2, 4-6, 3-6 in No. 2 singles, Deynes suffered a 7-6, 6-3 defeat in No. 3 singles, and Aroworowon unable to prevail in No. 4 singles 7-5, 6-2.
 
The Bobcats finished the day with victories in No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Tim Goldring vanquished Mount Aloysius's Tussey 6-1, 6-2 to pick up his second victory of the day. His doubles counterpart, Tomasic, had to overcome a 1-6 defeat in the first of three bouts with Anagnostiadis. The Dameron, Md. native prevailed 6-3, 6-3 in the final two sets of the match, closing the day on a high note.
 
Frostburg State now sets its sights on the first Mountain East Conference match of the season, as it takes on Charleston on the road Friday, March 13 at 4:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.frostburgsports.com.
