LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Frostburg State men's and women's track & field teams combined for 10 personal records as the Bobcats capped the second day of the Liberty Kickoff at Liberty University Saturday.
Senior throwers John Kerns and Michael Belcher each posted stellar efforts on Saturday for the men, while two personal-best marks were set by the women.
Kerns posted the team's best finish when he took third in the weight throw at 17.09 meters (56ft. 1in.). He was 25
th in the shot put in 13.23 meters (43ft. 5in.). Belcher set a personal-record in the weight throw with a distance of 15.68 meters (51ft. 5.5in.), good enough for 10
th place. He posted 32
nd in the shot put at a season-best 12.49 meters (40ft. 11.75in.).
Senior Jacob Rickards raced in two events and hit season-best times in both after finishing in 24th place in the 800 in 2:02.04 and taking 26
th in the one mile in 4:38.61.
First-year Daniel Foster posted a season-best 4:40.52 in the mile after finishing in 29
th place, while junior Devon Horseman-Guy finished in 31
st place with a personal-best 4:42.94.
Junior Clayton Washington took home 37
th place in the 400 behind a best-best effort of 51.97. while first-year Jaydon Morley set a personal-record and senior Lorenzo Wilson set a season-best time in the 800.
Morley finished 15
th in 2:00.36, while Wilson was 29
th in 2:03.40.
Junior Braxton Clark earned 20th place in the 3,000-meter run in a personal-best 9:24.58.
First-year Jonathan Jenkins registered a personal-record performance in the long jump, posting 6.05 meters (19ft. 10.25in.) and 29
th place. He also finished in 29
th in the triple jump at 12.00 meters (39ft. 4.5in.). Senior Paul Kumpar hit a personal-best 10.06 meters (33ft. 0.25in.) in the weight throw and finished in 34
th place.
First-year Caleb Banga posted the best results in the sprints, taking 32
nd in the 60-meter dash prelims in 7.17. He also set a season-best after posting a 23.24 in the 200 while finishing in 61
st place.
In the 60 hurdles, first-year Mark Vaughns was 30
th in 9.14, while sophomore Brandon Hill was 33
rd in the prelims in personal-record 9.68.
Sophomore Justin Dunklin captured 10
th in the heptathlon with 3,785 points. Opened the final three events with a 9.58 in the 60-meter hurdles. He followed it up with 3.20 meters in the pole vault and a 3:23.62 in the 1,000-meter run.
Junior Amy Trembly powered the women's side with 18
th place in 1.50 meters (4ft. 11in.) in the high jump.
First-year Isabel Pereira captured 33
rd in the 800-meter run in a season-best 3:06.58.
In the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries, first-year Alyssa Mullery took 23
rd in a personal-record 9.52, while first-year Shayna Booker was 35
th in 9.93.
Mullery later added 34
th in the triple jump at 10.16 meters (33ft. 4in.).
A trio of Bobcats ran in the 200-meter dash as the field comprised of nearly 90 competitors. Booker (personal-best) and junior Maddison Watson tied for 65
th at 27.82, while senior Keileen Estrada was 70
th in 28.07.
Estrada added 48
th in the 400 in 1:03.96 and Watson was 53
rd in the 400 in 1:04.59.
In the field events, first-year Chloe Park was 49
th in the long jump at 4.29 meters (14ft. 1in.) and first-year Alexa Bradburn captured 48
th in the shot at 8.33 meters (27ft. 4in.).
Frostburg returns to action next Saturday at the SU Challenge at Susquehanna University.
