BALTIMORE, MD. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team took part in the first day of the Goucher Invitational in Baltimore, MD Saturday with Immaculata, Stockton, Goucher, and Marywood. The Bobcats were victorious in a trio of matches, with two of those wins coming in Doubles matches.

In round one, first-year Rabiatu Ladan scored Frostburg's only singles triumph, a 6-4 and 6-0 sweep of Marywood's Gina Babcock. Sophomores Erika Femme and Shea Przywieczerski were swept in their opening matches despite tallying a point, and sophomore Ariana Zuzunga fell in an exciting match to Goucher's Anais Gill 6-7, 3-6, 5-10.

The doubles portion of round one was much of the same, with one duo picking up the victory and the other falling in another tight round. First-year Madison Toothman and Cherise Jenkins fell 1-6, 6-3, 7-10 in A doubles, while junior Sara Cartwright and senior Allison Paul swept their opponents.

Round two commenced in disappointing fashion for the Bobcats, with all four individuals falling in two sets. Sophomore Erike Femne, Przywieczerski, Ladan, and Zuzunga all went down in consecutive order. In doubles, Cartwright and Paul picked up another win in two sets, while Toothman and Jenkins lost in another close encounter.

The second day of the Goucher Invitational commences Sunday from Baltimore, Maryland.
