FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg women's tennis team collected its first win of the 2019 season on Tuesday night with a 5-2 defeat of California (Pa.).
The Bobcats (1-3) jumped out to a quick 2-0 cushion after first-year Maddison Toothman defeated Annie Miller, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and sophomore Ariana Zuzunaga won No. 5 singles with 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Alexa Uhlyar.
Frostburg closed singles action by winning No. 4 when first-year Rabiatu Ladan downed Fulvia Camargo 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Shea Przywieczerski sealed the match victory with a 6-7, 6-2, 12-10 win over Julie McDaniel in No. 3 singles.
In doubles action, Aisling Woulfe and senior Allison Paul won No. 2, 6-1, and sophomore Cherise Jenkins and Toothman earned a No. 3 win, 6-0.
FSU returns to the court on Friday, Oct. 18 at Bethany at 5:00 pm.
