NORFOLK, Va. – The Frostburg women's tennis team dropped a non-conference road tilt at Virginia Wesleyan, 9-0, Thursday afternoon.
The Frostburg (3-4) sophomore tandem of Sammi Turner and Elizabeth Mott posted the closest match of the day at No. 3 doubles, dropping a hard-fought 8-4 effort to Courtney Simmons and Aubree Johnson.
The other two doubles teams for the Bobcats endured 8-3 defeats. Junior Jenna Lipinski and sophomore Kate Paylor fell at No. 1 doubles to Makayla Velic and Audrey Bally, while sophomore Allison Paul and first-year Sophia Staggers lost at No. 2 doubles to Kristina Sabelstrom and Taylor Witherspoon.
Paul registered the closest singles match against Virginia Wesleyan (7-3) taking a 6-3, 6-2 loss at No. 3 to Simmons.
The Bobcats return to the court tomorrow and jumps back into CAC action when they play Southern Virginia at Christopher Newport at 6:00 pm.
