WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Frostburg State men's and women's swimming teams kicked off their 2017-18 seasons on Saturday with dominating performances at Gallaudet.

The Frostburg women rolled to a 216-44 win, while the men swam to a 172-88 victory.
The FSU women opened the meet with a relay win, closed the meet with another relay win and in between, six different swimmers captured individual wins.
The 200-yard medley relay team of junior Emily Turner, junior Maddie Weinberger, first-year Taylor Stanbeck and senior Macey Nitchie opened the afternoon with a win in 1:58.94.
The final event of the meet for the women, the 200-yard freestyle relay, was won in 1:49.05 by the foursome of Nitchie, sophomore Elizabeth Myers, sophomore Becca Marsh and sophomore Megan Culbertson.
Weinberger and Turner paced the women with three wins each. Weinberger won the 50 (32.50) and 100-yard breaststrokes (1:10.85) along with the 100-yard IM (1:05.40), while Turner dominated the 50 (31.36) and 100-yard backstrokes (1:07.28) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.51).
Marsh and Nitchie each collected two wins against the Bison.
Marsh won the 500 (5:49.98) and 1,000-yard freestyles (12:04.43), while Nitchie paced the 50 (25.33) and 100-yard freestyles (55.82).
Myers finished with a win in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.24) and Stanback posted her first collegiate win in the 50-yard butterfly (30.28).
For the men, the 200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Jacob Auerbach, first-year Cayden Abramowitz, first-year Brady Peterson and first-year Scott Walton began the day with a first-place finish in 1:47.62.
Peterson also took home second in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 50-yard butterfly (26.55).
Walton finished first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:43.64) and second in the 50-yard breaststroke (31.33)
First-year Luke Holloway swam his way to a first-place finish in the 50 (23.78), 100 (51.55) and 200-yard freestyles (1:54.91).
First-year Anthony Giuseppetti finished second in the 50 (26.94) and 100-yard backstroke (57.82).
Senior Christian March picked-up where he left off last year as he finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.86) and the 100-yard IM (56.51). He placed second in the 100-yard butterfly in 56.19.
The Bobcats finished the meet the same as they started, but this time with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.30). The relay team was made up of Auerbach, Holloway, Giuseppetti and March.
Bobcat first-year Connor Gioffreda kicked off his collegiate career in impressive fashion breaking the Paralympic American record in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 14:35.74.
Frostburg State returns to the pool this Saturday at the McDonogh School where it will face Goucher, Hood and Stevenson at 2:00 pm.
